Copilot V4 Launch 🎉 Your personal AGI in Obsidian
Logan here. After months of grinding and Supporter prereleases, Copilot V4 is out! A complete rewrite that puts Claude Code, Codex, and opencode natively inside your vault, so Copilot for Obsidian becomes the personal AGI that grows with your second brain.

Frontier agents in your vault
Run Claude Code, Codex, and opencode inside Obsidian. They used to belong to developers writing software. Now they have become every knowledge worker's best companion that reads, writes, searches, plans (plan mode), and runs complex long-running tasks in fluent Obsidian: Markdown, wikilinks, canvases, dataview, you name it.
Open a different agent in each tab, scope one to a project with its own custom instructions, or call multiple agents at once with @claude @codex @opencode for a more thorough answer to a high-stakes question (my personal favorite feature, Plus tier or above required). Set up cross-agent skills once and every agent in Copilot V4 can use them.

One email can't hold everything in V4. Try it and you'll see what I mean: compared to V3, it is night and day.
(Agent chat is desktop-only for now. On mobile, Copilot keeps working with the classic chat, now called Quick Chat.)
Bring your subscription you already pay for
A Claude subscription powers Claude Code. A ChatGPT subscription powers Codex. API keys or local models power opencode. The plugin is free and open source, so if you already pay for one of these, running it in your vault costs nothing new.
Miyo: our answer to AI ownership
Copilot's semantic search now runs in miyo.md, a free desktop app that builds and keeps the index on your own machine. Miyo runs at the OS level instead of inside Obsidian, so indexing gets your full CPU and GPU rather than the slice a plugin can borrow. That's what makes a 100,000-file vault searchable without freezing your editor.
Copilot settings has a new Miyo tab with two toggles: semantic search, and Miyo as your Document Processor so PDFs and EPUBs are parsed there too.
Miyo's free browser extension syncs your entire ChatGPT and Claude history into markdown on your disk, where your agents can search it like any other note.
All of that is free. The only paid piece is Miyo Relay, which lets the ChatGPT and Claude mobile apps read and write your vault from your phone instead of wrestling with a plugin on Obsidian mobile. It runs $4.99 a month, or $149.99 once for life, free for 7 days without a card.

Symposium: publish a note with your agent
Everything you write in Obsidian sits in a folder only you can open. When someone else needs to read one note, you paste it into a Google Doc, export a PDF that mangles the formatting, or give up and send a screenshot.
Tell your agent "publish this to Symposium" and it hands you back a public link. Diagrams, tables, and images come along, and the note stays plain markdown in your vault.
Send a client the weekly project update they can open on their phone. Turn meeting notes into a report the team reads in a browser. Share a research summary with someone who has never heard of Obsidian.
Edit the note later and ask the agent to update the page, and the link stays the same. Obsidian shows you the exact page before anything goes public.

Updating from V3? Read this first
V4 installs like a normal plugin update and migrates your setup on first launch, ending with a summary of what it did. Two things to know:
- On a paid plan? Check your license. Some keys get cleared and trigger a renewal popup. False alarm from the keychain migration: grab your key from the dashboard and re-enter it.
- Your old chat is now "Quick Chat." Run "New Copilot Quick Chat" from the command palette to get it back.
API keys move to the Obsidian keychain for security, and conversations, prompts, skills, memory, and projects all move into one copilot folder. The release notes have the details.
Updated Copilot plans
Copilot has always been free with your own subscription or keys, and that hasn't changed. New in V4 is Lite, at $7.99/mo: the frontier agent experience through opencode on Copilot-hosted models comparable to the $20/mo Claude and ChatGPT plans. No keys and no subscriptions to juggle, so if you've never set up an AI tool before, this is the shortest path in.
Plus now carries 3x the token allowance of Lite, and Supporter is a one-time $349.99 that bundles lifetime Miyo.
